Saratok Sixth Form College principal Omar Sharif Buseri described the recognition as a historic milestone, as it was the first time the college received the award since its establishment in 2015.

He said the college recorded a notable improvement in overall performance, with its CGPA rising from 2.99 in STPM 2024 to 3.12 in 2025, marking its best result in over a decade.

“This year, four students achieved a CGPA of 4.00 compared to three in 2024.

“In addition, 46 students obtained a CGPA of 3.50 and above, while 55 students scored between 3.00 and 3.49,” he told TVS.

He was met by the press after attending the STPM, MUET and SKBMW 2025 Excellent Student Award Presentation Ceremony, which was officiated by Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, held at the Malaysian Examinations Council in Selayang today.

Omar Sharif added that the achievement was driven by the commitment of teachers, students, parents, and support staff, following several years of less encouraging results.

Looking ahead to STPM 2026, he expressed confidence that the college would continue its upward trajectory, citing improved Semester 1 results compared to previous cohorts.

“The Semester 1 performance of STPM 2026 students is the best so far compared to 2025, 2024 and earlier years. We are confident of achieving even better results next year,” he said.

Meanwhile, SMK Sacred Heart principal, David Teo Wu, said the school’s strong performance was reflected in the improved number of students achieving excellent results in STPM 2025.

A total of 69 students from the school obtained excellent results, an increase of one student compared to 68 in the previous year.

“Of this number, 17 students achieved a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.00, and one student scored 5As.

“This achievement is the result of strong cooperation between teachers, students, parents, alumni, the school community, NGOs, and elected representatives who continue to support the school,” he said.

Teo also expressed appreciation to Sarawak Education director Omar Mahli for his continuous guidance and support in sustaining the school’s academic excellence.

He emphasised that discipline and consistent effort remain the key drivers of success at the Form Six level.
