Sarawak CP Mohamad Zainal Abdullah to take helm as management director at Bukit Aman

KUCHING, Sept 15: Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah has been appointed director of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Management Department at Bukit Aman.

Mohamad Zainal, 48, takes over the post from Datuk Seri Abdul Aziz Abdul Majid, who was appointed Deputy Inspector-General of Police effective Sept 9.

The Sarawak PDRM contingent, in a Facebook post yesterday, congratulated Mohamad Zainal on his new role, describing it as recognition of his leadership and extensive experience in the police force.

“Throughout his tenure leading the Sarawak PDRM contingent, his leadership has always been guided by integrity and professionalism, while prioritising the welfare of police personnel as well as the safety and well-being of the community.

“His services, contributions and leadership will certainly remain part of the memories and legacy deeply appreciated by all Sarawak PDRM personnel,” the post said.

Mohamad Zainal, who was born in Lawas, began serving as Sarawak Police Commissioner on Sept 26 last year.

Before that, he held several senior positions, including deputy director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Investigation/Legal Division at Bukit Aman and chief assistant director of CID D5 Prosecution/Law Division at Bukit Aman. He also previously served as police chief for Dang Wangi and Perak Tengah.

He has an academic background in law, human resources, and administration and justice. His appointment also makes him one of the youngest directors in the PDRM’s top leadership.

He is expected to report for duty at Bukit Aman on Oct 19

The Sarawak PDRM expressed hope that he would lead with integrity, uphold professionalism and honour the trust placed in him to strengthen the force further, while ensuring national security and the well-being of the people remain priorities. — DayakDaily
