KUCHING (Aug 11): The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) is urged to fix the potholes along Lorong Semaba Park, adjacent to the Forest Research Centre here.

Michael Kong, a special assistant to Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen, in making this call, said the access road is crucial for the residents of Jalan Semaba.

“Lorong Semaba Park serves as a vital alternative route for entering and exiting the area. The road is riddled with dangerous potholes, posing a serious threat to motorists,” he said in a statement yesterday.

According to Kong, residents there have filed numerous complaints with MPP but no action has been taken, thus far.

“Residents have repeatedly brought this issue to the attention of MPP; no action has been taken to address the problem.

“The continued inaction not only jeopardises the safety of the residents but also reflects poorly on the efficiency and responsiveness of the authorities involved,” he lamented.

The DAP Sarawak leader asserted that it is the responsibility of local authorities to swiftly address and repair potholes within their jurisdictions to prevent inconvenience and potential harm to the public.

Kong said neglecting these essential duties would lead to frustration and risk for the people relying on these roads daily.

As such, he appealed to MPP and its chairman Tan Kai to take immediate steps to repair the road.
