KUCHING (Nov 28): The Sarawak Delta Geopark Package Vol. 2 was officially launched on Wednesday, marking a significant step in promoting Sarawak’s geological, cultural and eco-tourism assets ahead of the state’s bid for Unesco Global Geopark status in 2026.
The launch took place in Kuala Lumpur during the ‘Jom Ke Sarawak Roadshow’, organised by Tourism Malaysia in collaboration with the Association of Sarawak Inbound Agencies (Asia), Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) and Business Events Sarawak.
The roadshow brought together 22 representatives from Sarawak’s tourism industry and featured a dedicated Business-to-Business session with travel operators from the Central Region.
Sarawak Delta Geopark Package Vol. 2 features 42 thematic itineraries curated by 13 tour operators, showcasing the geopark’s geological formations, diverse wildlife, adventure attractions, cultural heritage, and local cuisine.
Among the highlighted destinations are the Sarawak Cultural Village and Bako National Park in Kuching; Wind and Fairy Cave Nature Reserve and the Paku Rock Maze in Bau; as well as Annah Rais Homestay and Semadang River Kayak in Padawan.
Tourism Malaysia said the new package was developed through a strategic partnership with the Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, in line with the Visit Malaysia Year (VMY) 2026 vision to advance sustainable and cultural tourism.
The launch ceremony was attended by Tourism Malaysia deputy director-general (Promotions II) Samuel Lee Thai Hung; Asia chairman Philip Yong; Sarawak Forestry Department geopark management unit head Madeline George Pau; Sarawak Tourism Board acting director of marketing (Domestic and Asean) Gustino Basuan; and Business Events Sarawak business development manager Gloria Pahang.
Tourism Malaysia said the initiative reinforces Sarawak’s position as a rising MICE and eco-tourism destination while strengthening Malaysia’s appeal as a responsible travel hub.
Malaysia recorded 28,242,804 tourist arrivals from January to August 2025, an increase of 14.5 per cent year-on-year, while Sarawak received 3,599,656 visitors between January and September 2025.
