Sarawak dominates MSSM 2024 diving competition with 6 gold medals

KUCHING (Sept 18): Sarawak’s diving team triumphed at the 2024 Majlis Sukan Sekolah Malaysia (MSSM) diving competition in Bukit Jalil today, emerging as the overall champions with an impressive medal tally of six gold, six silver, and three bronze.

Sabah secured second place with two gold, one silver, and three bronze medals, while Kuala Lumpur rounded off the top three with two gold and one silver.

Among the standout performers was Sarawak’s Sukma diver, Muhammad Lutfir Rahman, who clinched two gold medals in the Boys Under-15 1m and 3m springboard events.

Joining him on the top podium was fellow Sukma diver Cecelia Olivia, who captured gold in the Girls Under-15 3m springboard, and Soh Tze Kang, who dominated the Boys Under-18 3m springboard.

In the Girls Under-12 category, Nur Ikmas Darwisyah Ikeram proved her mettle, winning gold in both the 1m and 3m springboard events, contributing two crucial victories to Sarawak’s medal haul.

Sarawak’s silver medalists were equally impressive, with another Sukma diver, Dayang Nursharzyra Awang Nasaruddin, earning two silver medals in the Women’s Under-18 1m and 3m springboard events.

Soh added a silver to his collection in the Boys Under-18 1m springboard.

Sukma diver Nurul Farisya Alia secured silver in the Girls Under-15 1m springboard, while Samuel Chung Shi Yen earned silver in the Boys Under-15 1m springboard.

Nurul Farisya further contributed to Sarawak’s success by claiming a bronze in the Girls Under-15 3m springboard.

Siti Nurul Jannah Malik also made her mark with a silver in the Girls Under-12 3m springboard and a bronze in the 1m springboard, while Cecelia added a bronze in the Girls Under-15 1m springboard to round off Sarawak’s strong showing.
