KUCHING, March 5: Llamalítica, a Spanish company specialising in artificial intelligence solutions for the healthcare sector, and the Sarawak Artificial Intelligence Centre (SAIC), an agency of the Sarawak government, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the development and implementation of AI-powered tools aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery and improving quality of life in both urban and rural communities.
The strategic partnership supports Sarawak’s broader digital transformation agenda and its ambition to position itself as a regional leader in artificial intelligence and advanced technologies.
According to a media release today, the collaboration was further reinforced during Sarawak’s participation in the Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona, where the State highlighted its investment priorities through 2030, focusing strongly on digital infrastructure, connectivity, AI innovation, and technology-enabled public services.
The partnership between Llamalítica and Sarawak Artificial Intelligence Centre is driven by a shared vision to harness artificial intelligence to strengthen healthcare systems, promote equitable access to medical services, and improve clinical outcomes.
By developing scalable and adaptable digital solutions tailored to diverse demographic and geographic contexts, the collaboration aims to ensure that technological advancements benefit communities across Sarawak.
Llamalítica brings to the partnership its expertise in generative AI designed specifically for healthcare environments. Its technology supports clinical decision-making, reduces administrative burdens, and streamlines patient-centred workflows. The platform also enables the secure integration of AI agents into clinical processes, maintaining high standards of data governance, privacy, and traceability.
Under the MoU, both parties will work together to develop and deploy AI-based solutions to support clinical and administrative functions within Sarawak’s healthcare ecosystem.
The collaboration will also focus on promoting knowledge transfer and capacity building to ensure healthcare professionals and policymakers are equipped to adopt AI technologies safely and effectively. Another key priority is advancing health equity by expanding access to intelligent digital tools in rural and underserved communities.
SAIC chief executive officer (CEO) Patrick Then, said the collaboration reflects Sarawak’s broader strategic direction in embracing emerging technologies.
“Sarawak is embarking on a game-changing journey by systematically leveraging artificial intelligence and other frontier technologies as key enablers of sustainable economic growth and digital excellence. Our focus is on building a robust, innovation-driven AI ecosystem that delivers measurable value across public services and industries, including healthcare,” he said.
He added that collaboration with reputable international partners would strengthen knowledge transfer, elevate quality standards, and enhance the global competitiveness of AI products and services developed in Sarawak.
Such partnerships, he noted, also help accelerate talent development, foster innovation, and ensure that AI solutions meet international benchmarks while delivering tangible benefits to communities.
Meanwhile, Llamalítica CEO Frederic Llordachs, highlighted the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in healthcare.
“Artificial intelligence has the potential to significantly transform healthcare by providing intelligent support to clinicians and enabling more personalised, efficient and sustainable care. This MoU with SAIC marks an important step toward democratising digital health and delivering meaningful social impact,” he said.
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding marks a concrete step toward demonstrating how artificial intelligence can serve as a catalyst for real-world impact, strengthening healthcare systems, improving quality of life, and enabling more inclusive access to high-quality medical services across diverse communities.
