KUCHING (Nov 2): The finals of two Kenyalang 20 Paddlers categories this afternoon showcased intense competition and impressive teamwork, with participating teams displaying remarkable athleticism.

In the Kenyalang 20 Paddlers Mixed (Open Category) final, Team Azizul FT Buraq took a commanding lead, finishing in first place, while Bujang Sigat secured second and Asaroz Terawan Mulu 1 third.

The Kenyalang 20-Paddlers Men (Public/Private Higher Learning Institutes category) finale was equally thrilling, with Unimas Teguh Bersama comfortably taking the top spot.

They outpaced their competitors, UiTM Sarawak and fellow university team Unimas Gemilang, who finished second and third, respectively.

Kuching Resident Dayang Joanita Azizah Abang Morshidi presented the prizes to the winning teams.

Unimas Teguh Bersama team manager, Nadzely Raji’i, expressed pride in representing Unimas at the Sarawak Regatta, sharing that the university has consistently sent teams to this annual event.

“Unimas initially planned to send three teams, however with the convocation going on, our Unimas Sayang team was unable to participate,” he said when met after the prize-giving ceremony.

He added that the teams train in the Unimas campus lake using their own longboats, composed of both students and staff members.

In other races, Heat D of the Bidar 30 Paddlers Men (TYT Cup) event delivered a nail-biting finish, with Landas Saga Sebuyau 2 narrowly securing first place.
