KUCHING: Sarawak shuttlers Genevie Lim and Isyraf Hafizin have been rewarded for their podium finishes at the PETRONAS Malaysia International Series 2026.
Genevie received a RM2,000 performance incentive after capturing the mixed doubles title, while Isyraf was awarded RM1,000 following his runner-up finish in the men’s doubles.
Genevie partnered Irfan M Shazmir to defeat Lau Yi Sheng–Yap Rui Chen 21-18, 21-15 in the mixed doubles final, sealing the title in 31 minutes.
Isyraf and Ahmad Redzuan, meanwhile, pushed Lau Yi Sheng–Lee Yi Bo in a closely contested men’s doubles final before going down 20-22, 20-22 in 34 minutes.
The Sarawak Badminton Association (SBA) said the incentives recognised the achievements of its players following their performances at the tournament.
“We are proud to recognise the achievements of our Sarawak players with performance incentives,” the association said.
Two other Sarawak youngsters, Jared Foo and Lucas Ho, were also recognised for their performances at the Lee Chong Wei Cup 2026, with both receiving RM300 each following their runner-up finishes.
The incentives were presented by SBA honorary secretary Datuk Dr Wan Khalik Wan Muhammad during his visit to Akademi Badminton Malaysia (ABM) for the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) Council Meeting recently.
Congratulating all four players, SBA urged them to build on their performances.
“Keep working hard and continue making Sarawak proud,” it said
