KUCHING (Sept 7): Sarawak’s first Islamic International School is expected to be completed by the end of 2027, said Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.

He said this school, despite being of international standard, mainly caters for the needs of local students, particularly those who excel academically.

“The curriculum will be based on the international syllabus of Cambridge and Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiah of Singapore, equipping our children with the know-how to pursue tertiary education.

“This is to say that the syllabus offered at our Islamic International School here will be recognised globally,” he said at Sekolah Rendah Islam Al-Amin Kuching 2’s joggerton programme here today.

Moreover, Dr Abdul Rahman said i-Cats University College will be elevated to a university and that the new university building will be constructed near the Telaga Air area.

“One of the higher education syllabuses emphasised by the state government is related to aerospace and that our children should be nurtured to become experts in this field.

“We are working on offering relevant syllabus here in the next two to three years so our children do not have to pursue this course far from home,” he said.

Dr Abdul Rahman also called on parents to provide the best education for their children in order to produce disciplined and responsible young generation for the betterment of the state.

At present, Sekolah Rendah Islam Al-Amin is located in six locations throughout Sarawak; two out of these six are located in Kuching, and one each in Kota Samarahan, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri.
