KUCHING, June 16: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) plans to introduce a pilot cadet corps programme in schools to instil integrity among youths, with Sarawak and Sabah being considered as strategic partners.
According to MACC chief commissioner Abd Halim Aman, this is part of the commission’s efforts to instil integrity in the next generation.
In a Berita Harian report, he said the initiative will be implemented in stages at selected schools before it can see a nationwide rollout.
He added that the project will first involve a school in the Klang Valley and another in Terengganu before expanding to other states.
“Sabah and Sarawak could also potentially become strategic partners in this initiative,” he was quoted as saying.
He said education and awareness from an early age are crucial in shaping a generation that rejects corruption, stressing that such efforts must be sustained despite financial constraints and economic uncertainties.
He also called on MACC state chapters to strengthen strategic collaborations with educational institutions and the corporate sector to expand the reach of anti-corruption awareness programmes. — DayakDaily
