KUCHING (Dec 30): Sarawak Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin has urged all stakeholders to intensify efforts and work collaboratively to ensure development initiatives are implemented effectively, delivering wide-ranging benefits to the community.

With the New Year 2026 approaching, he noted that Sarawak is drawing closer to achieving its Sarawak Maju Makmur 2030 vision, with less than five years remaining.

“We must strengthen cooperation between the government, private sector and the public, improve project implementation efficiency, and ensure no community is left behind.

“Only through collaboration, unity and shared commitment can we realise the aspirations of Sarawak Maju Makmur 2030,” he said.

Lee also called on Sarawakians to uphold the state’s long-standing spirit of unity, tolerance and harmony, emphasising that social and political stability remains essential for economic growth and the well-being of the people.

Outlining the ministry’s priorities for 2026, he said the focus would be on developing a transport system that is safer, more modern, inclusive and efficient, covering land, air, river and maritime sectors.

“Our key focus next year is to enhance mobility and support socio-economic growth across Sarawak, including rural areas.

“This includes implementing the ART system in Kuching, preparing AirBorneo operations, improving road safety, and strengthening logistics facilities and public transport services,” he said.

Lee added that riverine and maritime transport would continue to be upgraded to provide better accessibility, safety and efficiency for coastal and inland communities.

“I call upon all Sarawakians to enter the new year with renewed determination, confidence and a shared vision to build a more progressive, prosperous and sustainable Sarawak.

“I wish all Sarawakians a Happy New Year 2026 — may it bring greater well-being, prosperity and blessings to us all,” he said.
