KOTA SAMARAHAN (Sept 5): Malaysians, including those in Sarawak, should be well-informed about the background of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, despite Sarawak not having a monarchy of its own, said Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi.
He noted that many Malaysians remain unaware of key details about the King.
“I believe there is a lot of important information about our King’s background that we do not fully know.
“Today, we are fortunate to witness this important background together, which I believe is very significant as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong symbolises unity for Malaysians wherever we are.
“This is also important for the people of Sarawak, even though we do not have a King but a Governor, we value the annual celebrations as a symbol of Malaysians uniting under the head of our country, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong,” he said.
Julaihi, who is the minister in charge of the state-level Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim’s birthday celebration, said this at a press conference after officiating at the ‘Raja Kita’ exhibition at Summer Mall here today.
He encouraged the public, especially those in Samarahan and Kuching, to visit the ‘Raja Kita’ exhibition, which runs from today until Sept 8, in conjunction with the King’s birthday celebration.
“This is a very important sharing of information.
“Although we can only view the tools and regalia of the Royal Majesty digitally, I believe that the digital format is good enough as it allows us to scroll and browse related information provided by the Department of Museums Malaysia and the Royal Museum through the screens provided by the organisers,” he said.
Also present were Muara Tuang assemblyman Datuk Idris Buang, Simunjan assemblyman Awla Dris, and Royal Museum director Rohana Husin.
