KUCHING, April 10: Satok State seat must continue to stand as a stronghold for Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the upcoming 13th Sarawak Election (PRN13), says Deputy Minister of Utility (Sarawak Energy Berhad and PETROS) Datuk Ibrahim Baki.

Speaking at a Hari Raya Aidilfitri gathering at the Sarawak Islamic Complex here this evening, the Satok assemblyman said that the constituency has long been a bastion of support for PBB and GPS, and that it must record a big win in the next election.

“We must defend Satok and secure a big victory—not just as a signal for our own platform, but also as a message to others,” he said.

Ibrahim further said that unity and harmony among Sarawakians, particularly in Satok, remain strong under the State’s leadership.

“We in Sarawak do not have major issues because our leadership is on the right track, guided by far-sighted leaders,” he added.

Touching on development, he highlighted the State government’s efforts in building major infrastructure, including 20 large bridges funded by Sarawak itself, which have significantly improved connectivity and reduced reliance on ferry services.

“Imagine if we did not build these bridges. Rural communities would still bear the cost of using ferries, especially with rising diesel prices and supply restrictions,” he said.

He cited the recently completed Batang Lassa Bridge and the Marudi Bridge, noting that residents in those areas, no longer need to depend on ferry crossings, except for smaller alternatives.

On election readiness, Ibrahim said that PBB does not work only during election seasons but continues to serve the people year-round.

He also emphasised that the choice of candidate for Satok in the next election is not necessarily himself, expressing readiness to step aside if needed.

“Whoever is chosen as the candidate, we must give our full and undivided support,” he stressed. — DayakDaily
