KUCHING (April 10): Low-cost carrier Scoot will introduce new flight services to Belitung and Pontianak in Indonesia as part of a broader network expansion in 2026.

In a statement, the airline said flights to Belitung will commence on May 3 with twice-weekly services, while flights to Pontianak will begin on June 29 with three weekly services.

Both routes will be operated using Embraer E190-E2 aircraft.

Belitung, located off the eastern coast of Sumatra is known for its coastal landscapes and biodiversity, while Pontianak the capital of West Kalimantan sits on the equator and serves as a regional commercial and cultural centre.

Travellers from Malaysia will be able to connect to both destinations via Singapore Changi Airport, with one-way economy fares starting from RM219 to Belitung and RM309 to Pontianak.

According to Scoot chief executive officer Leslie Thng, the addition of new routes to Belitung and Pontianak enhances Scoot’s footprint in Indonesia and strengthens the network connectivity through Singapore.

“With increased flight frequencies to popular destinations, this will support demand for travel as the industry moves into the school holiday period.

“The addition of these routes, Scoot’s network will expand to 85 destinations across 18 countries and territories,” he added.
