MIRI (July 20): Sarawak Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin has called upon the public to prioritise self-love by taking good care of their health and keeping their health in check.
“Self-love is an important step to ensure that we can give the best to our family, community, and country,” he said, adding that this sense of self-care has a strong impact on one’s health.
“Health is the most valuable asset in our life. In our efforts to maintain good health, basic health check-ups play a very important part in everyone’s life,” he said.
“In this fast-paced and challenging life, we often ignore our own well-being. The Love Yourself Campaign is a good reminder for all of us on the importance of maintaining physical and mental health which holds the key to a more dignified and prosperous life,” added Lee.
The Senadin assemblyman said this when officiating at the Love Yourself Campaign held at Darul Iman Mosque in Tudan here today.
The event was hosted by the Borneo Medical Centre, in collaboration with the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN).
In his address, Lee also urged women in the area to take advantage of the free mammogram screening offered by LPPKN through its panel clinic by registering themselves at the event.
“Mammogram is one of the most effective examinations in detecting breast cancer at an early stage, before it becomes more serious and difficult to treat,” he said, while highlighting the importance of health screening.
The one-day programme offered free registrations for HPV DNA screening (screening of cervical cancer), mammogram and prostate screenings, blood glucose and blood pressure checks, health talk, and lucky draws.
BMC is the appointed panel clinic for LPPKN community engagement programme in mammogram screening in Miri.
According to BMC Miri medical director Dr Kenny Yeap Kim Pey who also spoke at the programme, the collaboration with LPPKN reflects BMC Miri’s unwavering commitment in providing high-quality healthcare services to the community and its dedication to early detection of breast cancer.
Also present at the launching of the programme were community leader Penghulu Nasir Rahim, village chief Mohamad Suhaimi Obeng, and Darul Iman Mosque chairman Affendi Hamdani.
