Seven foreigners sent back after illegal border entry attempt near Lundu

KUCHING (May 24): Seven foreigners have been ordered to turn back after they were discovered attempting to cross the border illegally from Indonesia along an illegal path some 100 meters from the Malaysian border near Biawak, Lundu this afternoon.

The foreigners, comprising of six men and a woman, were aged between 21 and 46 years-old.

During questioning, they admitted that they wanted to enter Malaysia to seek employment.

“All of their identities were recorded by the army and they were later escorted to the Malaysia – Indonesia border,” said a statement from the First Infantry Division today.

The statement also said checks were also conducted on the seven immigrants which revealed no illegal substances or goods.

The patrols were also conducted together with the Indonesian National Armed Forces.

A police report of the incident was also lodged at the Lundu district police headquarters.
