SIBU, April 29: A local man was fined RM100,000 by the Sessions Court here for trading in controlled goods without a licence, involving 38,000 litres of diesel.

The charge was read before Sessions Court Judge Musyiri Peet, with the accused prosecuted under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961.

The court also ordered a default jail term of 10 months if the fine was not paid.

The accused settled the fine and was released.

Meanwhile, the seized diesel, valued at RM103,200, was forfeited to the government.

In a statement today, KPDN Sarawak director Matthew Dominic Barin urged the public to play a proactive role in combating the misappropriation of controlled and subsidised goods.

He called on members of the public to act as the “eyes and ears” of the authorities by reporting suspicious activities or lodging complaints through official channels, including WhatsApp (019-848 8000), email ([email protected]), the KPDN call centre (1-800-886-800), or the Ez ADU KPDN mobile application.

“KPDN will continue to intensify enforcement efforts to curb leakages and ensure that controlled goods reach their intended recipients,” he said. — DayakDaily
