MIRI (March 28): Logility A Plus has achieved a milestone in the pet care industry, receiving recognition from the Asia Book of Records (ABR) for establishing the first automated 24-hour self-managed dog-boarding system.

Confirmed on Feb 18 this year, the record was set by the facility’s founder Steven Chin.

His remarkable technology-driven pet care model operates continuously around the clock, with the system integrating secure digital access, smart automation, climate-controlled kennels, remote monitoring, hygiene-focused amenities, as well as 24/7 check-in and check-out via mobile app.

With minimal human intervention, the system ensures high standards of efficiency, safety, and convenience.

It reflects the evolving landscape of service automation in Asia and establishes a new benchmark for modern, self-managed pet boarding solutions across the region.

The facility had earlier been recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) as the nation’s first 24-hour self-service dog boarding centre, with the certificate presented earlier this month.

Beyond its technological achievements, the facility also serves as a learning hub.

Earlier this week, a group of 10 students from Curtin University Malaysia, accompanied by their lecturers, visited the self-service dog boarding outlet at Pujut 7 here, operated by Logility A Plus.

The self-service dog-boarding outlet located at Pujut 7 in Miri, operated by Logility A Plus.

The students explored how Internet of Things (IoT) systems were being applied in real-world business environments, particularly in automation, remote monitoring, and operational efficiency.

During their walkabout at the outlet, the students highlighted features such as the motorised security roller shutter, which could be triggered by alarms to contain intrusions, demonstrating how technology enhances safety and control.

They noted that the model could reduce reliance on continuous on-site staffing, while improving customer accessibility and convenience.

The visit was further distinguished by the presence of Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak Datuk Sebastian Ting, who joined a photo session showcasing the ABR and MBR certifications.

From the academic perspective, Assoc Prof Dr Lim Chye Ing, associate dean (external engagement) of the Faculty of Engineering and Science, expressed her appreciation to Steven for providing this engaging learning opportunity to the students.

“The visit offered valuable exposure to professional practices and inspired students to better understand their roles in delivering technical solutions to society.”

Meanwhile, Prof Bridgid Chin, the faculty’s associate dean (research and development) added that such industry engagement would encourage students to think critically about how digital technologies could be translated into practical solutions that would enhance animal welfare standards and support ethical, science-based animal management practices, while strengthening the connection between classroom knowledge and research and development (R&D).
