KUCHING (Jan 15): Authorities are looking into providing assistance to the children of the recent Sri Aman murder victims, including support through funds under the Social Welfare Department (JKM).

Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Dato Sri Nancy Shukri said the matter is being handled according to established procedures, with officers having conducted visits and gathered relevant information on the children’s situation.

“The children are currently under the care of their maternal relatives, and psychosocial support is also being provided,” she said after officiating the Kampung Angkat Madani KPWKM at Dewan Serbaguna Kampung Buntal near here.

Nancy added that family members have been advised to follow proper legal procedures to obtain guardianship of the children.

“As the children are presently being cared for by their uncle, the family has been reminded to apply through the court so that he can be formally recognised as a suitable and eligible guardian,” she said.

She also expressed her sympathy to the deceased’s family and hoped that all related matters would be resolved smoothly.

The victims – 45-year-old Andy Roy Junran, a headmaster at a school in Lubok Antu, and his wife Angelin Kibin, 44, a nurse, were found dead at their home in Taman Mutiara, Sri Aman, on Wednesday.

Their remains are scheduled for burial on Sunday morning in Simanggang.

Investigations into the case are still ongoing, and police urge the public with information related to the case to call investigating officer ASP Kalang Buda at 019-3317785, or contact the Sri Aman District Police Headquarters or go to the nearest police station.
