KOTA KINABALU (March 6): Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) secretary-general Datuk Julita Majungki has urged party members to remain united and stable as the party prepares for leadership elections across its divisions.

Speaking at the PBS 41st anniversary celebration at Hakka Hall here on Thursday, Julita reminded members that the party carries a collective responsibility to preserve the spirit of camaraderie that has guided PBS since its early days.

She noted that this year marks an important period for the party, with leadership elections set to take place.

“As we go through the process of renewing the party’s leadership, we must remember the bigger responsibility we carry – to safeguard the party that we inherited from the leaders before us,” she said.

Julita stressed that maintaining unity and stability within the party would be crucial in ensuring PBS remains strong and prepared for future political challenges.

She also encouraged young members to step forward and take up leadership roles within the party, beginning from the branch and division levels before progressing to higher levels of leadership.

At the same time, she reminded aspiring leaders to understand and uphold the values and principles that form the foundation of PBS.

Julita said these principles were shaped by the party’s early leaders, including its founder Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan and president Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Johnity Ongkili, whose guidance continues to influence the party’s direction.

“As young leaders who aspire to lead, it is important for us to learn and understand the party’s DNA that has been laid down by our previous leaders,” she said.

She added that party members must remain ready and united in defending the party’s struggle and the interests of Sabah and its people, particularly as the political landscape continues to evolve.
