KUCHING (Dec 27): The second phase of the Sungai Bedaun housing scheme project involving 208 units is expected to commence next year, said Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) senior manager Saiful Bahari Amra Ramly.

He noted that almost all units in the first phase have been occupied by residents relocated from the Darul Hana development, while additional heads of households were also given the opportunity to own homes.

“The second phase is expected to commence by 2026, subject to prevailing conditions, and will provide further opportunities for additional heads of households to own homes at Sungai Bedaun,” he said when met by the reporters after the LCDA Media Bowling Fiesta 2025 in Batu Kawa here.

Saiful added that several Village Expansion Scheme (SPK) projects are currently being implemented across Sarawak and will continue next year, offering affordable housing with priority for families who do not yet own a home.

“These include SPK projects in Padang Kerbau in Miri, Sebuyau, Gedung and Trusan in Lawas. Our projects are also being carried out with the cooperation of relevant agencies, including the Sarawak Land and Survey Department (Landas) and the Housing Development Corporation (HDC),” he said.

Meanwhile, Puncak Borneo Development Sdn Bhd CEO Zuraimy Kusyaili said LCDA has been entrusted by the state government to undertake various land development and housing redevelopment projects.

“We have been entrusted by the state government under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to implement various projects involving land development and the redevelopment of housing areas,” he said.

He added that under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), LCDA will continue to be tasked with development projects aimed at benefiting the local community.

“We are confident that these projects will bring positive and meaningful impact to the people of Sarawak,” he said.
