KUCHING (Oct 16): A service counter will be set up at the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) headquarters here on Oct 19 and 20 to facilitate the application process for the Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) and Senior Citizen Health Benefit (SCHB) programme.

SUPP Batu Lintang branch chairman and organising committee chairman Sih Hua Tong said the service counter will be open from 9am to 5pm this weekend.

According to him, the Welfare Department will have its officers stationed at the counter to help with the KGC application process.

Those interested in applying for the KGC, or those who have already applied but have not received any updates, can visit the service counter at SUPP headquarters at Jalan Tan Sri Ong Kee Hui here to apply and receive the card on the spot, he added.

“To be a KGC member; one must be 60 years old and above, holding a Malaysian identity card(MyKad) with the K-indicator, or having a red identity card (IC) with the K-indicator.

“Walk-in applicants must bring along their MyKad, a photocopy of front and back of their MyKad, alongside a photocopy of their relative’s or witness’ MyKad,” he told a press conference today.

Applicants can also apply online and submit the required documents in advance for the card’s collection during this weekend’s event, he added.

“If their names appear in the application system, they will receive the KGC membership card on the spot.”

For the SCHB application, Sih said eligible applicants can receive RM500 in medical aid.

He explained that the medical assistance is not given in cash but is directly deducted from the account during medical visits.

“Only those with a household income of below RM7,000; 60 years old and above; and holding a MyKadwith the K-indicator are eligible to apply, while those with red ICs are not eligible.”

Interested applicants can download the SCHB application form from www.1supp.org.my, fill in the details, and bring the form to the service counter this weekend.

Completed forms must include the signature or stamp of their respective community leader.

Kuching Division Chinese community leader Temenggong Tan Joo Phoi and local community leaders will be present at this event to assist in the application process.

For elderly individuals with mobility issues, Sih said they may have their guardians or relatives bring the necessary documents to the event to apply on their behalf.

The KGC and SCHB service counters initiative is undertaken by six SUPP branches – Kuching, Pending, Batu Lintang, Kota Sentosa, Batu Kitang, and Batu Kawah.
