SIBU (Jan 29): The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) has taken a key step toward reinstating ownership of three shoplots serving at its party headquarters at Jalan Kampung Dato with the signing of a Statutory Declaration to enable the reissuance of their lost land titles.

SUPP president Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian yesterday officially signed the Statutory Declaration at the Land and Survey Department, a mandatory requirement in the application process for replacement land titles.

SUPP Dudong Branch Chairman Wong Ching Yong, who was present at the ceremony, said the signing marked an important milestone in completing the documentation necessary to restore the party’s legal ownership of the properties.

Wong explained that the return of the buildings followed a decision by the Sibu High Court, which confirmed that all three properties are the lawful assets of SUPP.

The court also ordered that the properties be re-registered under the party’s name after the ownership dispute was resolved through legal proceedings.

In a statement previously posted on his official Facebook page on January 2, Dr Sim disclosed that the High Court had ruled as early as 2018 that the properties belonged to SUPP.

He added that the court had dismissed the claims of former trustees who had left the party.

Dr Sim further said that in May 2025, the Registrar of the Sibu High Court signed the share transfer forms (Form 32A) to SUPP, formally acknowledging the party as the true owner of the shoplots.

“This step effectively confirmed the party as the lawful owner of the three shop house units,” he said.

He also noted that a Memorandum of Transfer signed by the SUPP president, secretary-general and treasurer was subsequently submitted to the Land and Survey Department on Dec 12, 2025 for final registration of the land titles.

Dr Sim added that the recovery of the buildings was welcomed with gratitude by party members and office bearers from the five SUPP branches in Sibu, following a long and challenging court process.
