KUCHING (Jan 14): Sarawakian Muay Thai pride Muhammad Hasbullah Mood is primed for his title defence at the Rentap Fighting Championship 7.0 (RFC7), where he is set to face his sternest challenge yet in 2025 SEA Games gold medallist and compatriot Wassof Rumijam from Kuala Lumpur.

Speaking at the RFC7 press conference at CityOne Megamall here, the reigning WBC MuayThai Malaysia bantamweight champion said he welcomes the challenge posed by an opponent fresh from international success.

He said his preparations have been thorough, stressing that the upcoming bout is not only a physical contest but also a test of mental strength.

“For physical preparation, everything is in place and has been applied in training. and it’s not just about kicks or taking kicks. Mentally, everything must be endured,” he said.

Unfazed by Wassof’s 2025 SEA Games gold medal, the 22-year-old Sarawakian from Sadong Jaya maintained that the fight would ultimately come down to what happens between the ropes.

“He has just come back from the SEA Games. We train the same, we eat the same rice. He has two hands, I have two hands. He has two legs, I have two legs. Let’s do it,” he said confidently.

Muhammad Hasbullah is set to defend his WBC MuayThai Malaysia men’s bantamweight title for the third time at RFC7, which will be held from Jan 16 to 18 at The Summer Shopping Mall, Kota Samarahan.

He first made history in 2024 by becoming the first fighter from Sarawak to capture the national WBC MuayThai Malaysia title, before cementing his status as one of the country’s most consistent fighters with a successful defence at RFC6.0 in July 2025.

Known for his stamina, resilience, and mental toughness, Hasbullah is determined to ensure the prestigious belt remains in Sarawak as he tests himself against one of the nation’s top fighters following Wassof’s recent SEA Games triumph.
