The Telang Usan Development Committee addresses the needs of development

KUCHING, 14 Oct: Telang Usan Development Committee presented some local development needs to the Prime Minister of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg during his visit today.

Deputy Minister in Sarawak's Premier Department (Buruh, Immigration and Project Monitoring), Datuk Gerawat Gala said the meeting was aimed at expressing the wishes of local communities especially in Ulu Baram area.

"Public officials and community leaders expressed their desire to our YAB Premier to represent the interests of residents in Ulu Baram area.

"This includes improving the road network and providing Stolport (short runway airport) facilities to meet local needs", he said.

Among the issues raised, he said, were the need to upgrade the road network and provide stolport facilities to meet the needs of the population.

He said the proposal was made by a joint committee of community leaders and tribal chiefs to represent the interests of residents in the area.

He said, the various development needs need to be addressed to ensure that people have better access to infrastructure facilities.
