KUCHING, Mar 8: The Tian Chuan Festival at Sam San Kuet Bong Temple this week emphasised the values of kindness, courage and cooperation, with the celebration attended by members of the community.
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin officiated the festival, which falls on the 20th day of the first lunar month and commemorates the legend of Goddess Nuwa repairing the broken sky to save humanity.
“Tian Chuan Festival commemorates the legend of Goddess Nuwa repairing the broken sky using five-coloured stones and restoring peace to the world after a great disaster,” he said.
He added that the story teaches values that remain relevant today as communities work together to build a caring and harmonious society.
“It is important that we continue organising cultural festivals like this so that our traditional heritage can be passed down to future generations while strengthening unity within the community,” he said while stressing the importance of preserving traditional cultural celebrations.
During the ceremony, the festival was officially declared open, with well wishes extended to attendees for good health, happiness and prosperity. — DayakDaily
