BINTANGOR (Jan 26): Three men with prior drug-related criminal records were arrested again during a special filtering operation conducted by the Meradong District Police Headquarters (IPD Meradong) on Sunday.
Meradong district police chief DSP Tansli Mering said the suspects were detained at around 9.10am by a police task force in the Bintangor township.
He said the three men, aged 26, 31 and 35, were taken to IPD Meradong for urine screening tests following their arrest.
“The results showed that all three tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine,” he said in a statement.
Tansli added that the suspects have been detained and the case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
If convicted, they could be fined up to RM5,000 or jailed for a term of not more than two years.
He said IPD Meradong views drug-related offences seriously and will not compromise in its efforts to curb drug abuse in the district.
Tansli also urged the public to cooperate by providing information on drug-related activities, adding that they can contact the Bintangor Police Station at 084-693222.
