KUCHING (Feb 15): The Tiny Fest Borneo, set for this March 28-29, aims to get children off the screen by bringing families together through fun offline activities that focus on real human connection.
Themed ‘Rumble in the Jungle’, the event will be taking place at the Tropics City in Tabuan Dayak here, running from 10am to 7pm daily.
The festival experience is packed with family-friendly fun including the exciting ‘bouncy castles’; the city’s first-ever ‘Baby Rave’; as well as arts and crafts including the ‘Mega Cardboard Maze’, and face-painting.
Families also get to enjoy a screening of Sarawakian-made animation folklore project, ‘Majau: The Harvest Tale’, celebrating Borneo’s rich cultural heritage.
Music will be led by parent-DJs such as DJ Keeyushee, DJ Arabyrd and DJ Ari, who will be spinning feel-good beats that get both tiny feet and grown-ups moving.
Families can also enjoy a variety of food and beverage offered at the outlets set up for the event, with a special orchestral surprise adding an extra layer of magic to the weekend.
As a soft pre-launch to Tiny Fest, the organiser has introduced ‘Tiny Talks’ – a curated panel series designed for those navigating modern parenting challenges.
“Tiny Talks address key concerns such as children’s behaviour, emotional development, and excessive screen time in today’s digital landscape.
“Our kick-off sessions feature speakers from Dr Chhoa Keng Hong from KPJ Kuching Specialist Hospital, and Dr Ng Boon Seng from Sarawak General Hospital.
“The topic, ‘Small Bodies, Big World: Understanding What Kids Are Trying To Tell Us’, sets out to unpack what’s normal, what’s a red flag, and how to handle real-life challenges like bullying and screen-time,” said the organiser in a statement.
