KOTA KINABALU (March 25): Former Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sabah, Tun Datuk Seri Panglima Juhar Datuk Mahiruddin and his wife Toh Puan Norlidah R.M. Jasni held a Hari Raya open house at his residence in Taman Kingfisher here on March 22.
Among the political leaders and guests from various sectors invited to the celebration were Sabah China Chamber of Commerce (SCCC) president Datuk Frankie Liew and members.
Also present was Tun Juhar’s eldest son, Datuk Al Hambra Tun Juhar, who is also the Deputy Speaker of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly.
Liew expressed his sincere appreciation to Tun Juhar on behalf of the Sabah China Chamber of Commerce.
He noted that Tun Juhar has consistently shown great care, blessings and encouragement toward the growth of the Chamber over the years.
Liew also remarked that Tun Juhar shares a deep connection with SCCC, having personally officiated as the guest of honour at the swearing-in ceremony of the Chamber’s inaugural executive committee, witnessing the birth and development of the organization.
“Over the years, Tun Juhar has always played a guiding and supportive role. This deep friendship is deeply appreciated by all our members,” he said.
Liew added that the Chamber was honoured to be invited to Tun Juhar’s Hari Raya Open House.
He also noted that the enthusiastic participation of people from various ethnic communities in Hari Raya celebrations reflects the harmonious multicultural spirit of Sabah.
According to him, attending such open house events not only strengthens ties between the Chamber and the state leadership, but also further promotes mutual understanding and unity among different communities.
“The Chamber will continue to uphold this spirit of gratitude. While promoting economic and trade cooperation between Sabah and China, we will also actively participate in social and cultural exchange activities to contribute to the prosperity and stability of Sabah,” he said.
