KUCHING, June 13: Sarawak’s Head of State (TYT) Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi attended a State-level thanksgiving ceremony in Betong today to commemorate the 17th Official Birthday of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

The gathering reflected a profound spirit of unity and gratitude, bringing Sarawakians from all walks of life together to commemorate the Agong’s official birthday and honour the nation’s constitutional monarchy.

The ceremony drew participation from senior State leaders, government officials and the local Muslim community, reflecting the significance of the annual observance in Sarawak’s calendar of official celebrations.

Throughout the evening, worshippers took part in a series of religious programmes, including congregational prayers, Quranic recitations and special supplications, creating an atmosphere of reflection and thanksgiving.

Marhaban chants performed by local zikir groups further enriched the occasion, adding a cultural and spiritual dimension to the celebration. The event was broadcast live by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) on YouTube.

Representing Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg was Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Regional Development Agencies, Kuching North City Commission and Islamic Affairs) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.

Also present were State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Sarawak Islamic Religious Department director Datu Mual Suaud, federal and State elected representatives, senior government officers and community leaders.
