KOTA BELUD (Jan 12): The Taginambur-Kamburaon Kadamaian road upgrading project, with a RM21.476 million funding, has been launched.
According to Sabah Deputy Chief Minister III Datuk Ewon Benedick. the works comprise asphalt-paving of the 2.55km stretch and also the construction of a two-way concrete bridge.
Ewon, also the state Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Minister, said the project should reach full completion in November next year.
“I am confident that upon full completion, this road will benefit thousands of residents, particularly parents who send their children to SMK Narinang and SK Taginambur.
“In addition, the road will provide greater comfort to all daily users, including tourists visiting tourism-related enterprises along this route, while also supporting village economic activities,” the Kadamaian assemblyman told reporters when met after officiating at the ground-breaking ceremony for the project here on Monday.
Ewon said besides the Taginambur-Kamburaon road, several other major road-paving projects were being implemented in his constituency including Jalan Sayap, Jalan Tengkurus and Jalan Podos, as well as the construction of two main concrete bridges: the Kaung and Malangkap bridges.
“I hope that more upgrading projects for major connecting roads could be implemented in the Kadamaian constituency this year, in line with the Sabah government’s priority of ensuring that the people could enjoy more comfortable and safer basic road infrastructure,” he said.
Ewon also expressed appreciation to the Rural and Regional Development Ministry for providing the project funding, the Public Works Department (JKR) as the implementing agency, and all parties involved in ensuring the success of the Taginambur-Kamburaon Kadamaian road upgrading project.
Once completed, the road should benefit residents of Kampung Barob, Kampung Potomodun, Kampung Tiong Kamburaon, Kampung Tiong Tiong and Kampung Gontung.
Meanwhile, Kampung Tiong Kamburaon’s village security and development committee (JKKK) chairman Juhanis Tinggi, expressed his gratitude to the state government, particularly Ewon, for efforts in providing basic infrastructure for the villagers.
“Although the upgrading works do not extend fully to my village, at least it can help significantly because this road is very much needed, especially for sending children to SMK Narinang and SK Taginambur,” he said.
Adding on, Juhanis hoped that the government would continue the road upgrading project up to Kampung Tiong Manggis, Kampung Tiong Kamburaon and Kampung Tambailik.
“The route is an important alternative road for residents travelling to Tuaran, particularly Tenghilan, which is closer than using the Kota Belud road.
“This road involves seven villages and is very important as all the residents are farmers.
“Road improvements will ease daily activities, including transporting agricultural produce, purchasing supplies, seeking medical treatment at hospitals, and travelling to other destinations,” he added.
