KENINGAU (Jan 31): Village development should not be carried out in a one-sided manner, but requires the active participation of residents, said Bingkor Assemblyman Datuk Mohd Ishak Ayub.

Speaking at a welfare programme in Kampung Tuarid Taud, Mohd Ishak, who is also the State Assistant Minister of Finance, said grassroots participation forms the foundation of more inclusive development and ensures that the real needs of the community are accurately conveyed to the relevant authorities.

The message was put into practice when Mohd Ishak presented food basket assistance to eligible residents of Kampung Tuarid Taud.

The aid was aimed at helping families in need cope with the rising cost of living, reflecting the continuous efforts of local leadership to prioritise the welfare of the people.

The programme was also attended by Community Development Leader (PPM) Lectus Fung, staff from the Bingkor Assemblyman Office, and representatives from the Community Development Leaders Unit (UPPM).
