Woman, student injured in collision

KUCHING: An elderly woman and a secondary school student suffered injuries in a collision between two vehicles along Jalan Tenaga here on Monday (Dec 4).

The Fire and Rescue Department operation centre received a distress call pertaining to the incident at 1.22pm.

A team of firemen from the Tabuan Jaya station were deployed to the scene of the accident involving a school van and a cement truck.

By the time the firemen arrived, the injured student has been rescued from the van by passing motorists.

Meanwhile, the elderly woman, who is believed to be the van driver, was pinned to the driver’s seat as her leg was stuck.

The firemen had to extract her using a rescue tool before she was handed over to paramedics at the scene for further action.
