KUCHING, May 16: Development must be viewed from the perspective of the people’s needs—projects completed on time, implementation issues resolved promptly, and benefits that genuinely reach the community, says Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

Speaking on his attendance at the Kapit Divisional Development Committee (DDC) and Divisional Development Action Committee (JTPB) Meeting No. 1/2026, which was held here on Friday (May 15), Nanta, who is also Kapit MP, said the meeting presented the current status and progress of development projects being implemented and planned in the Kapit Division, including projects under both the State and Federal Governments.

In addition to reviewing project progress, the discussion also provided an opportunity for all parties to exchange views, coordinate actions, and seek solutions to issues that could affect the smooth implementation of projects.

“I believe that development which truly benefits the people requires close cooperation among implementing agencies, technical departments, local leaders, and all relevant stakeholders.

“Every issue must be addressed collectively, and every project must be ensured to progress in an orderly manner.

“May all development efforts in Kapit continue to be strengthened for the well-being of the people, especially communities in the rural interior areas,” he said.

Also present at the meeting were Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Law and Native Customs) and Bukit Goram assemblyman Datuk Jefferson Jamit Unyat; Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication (Telecommunications) and Belaga assemblyman Datuk Liwan Lagang; Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chuckpai Ugon; Pelagus assemblyman Wilson Nyabong; as well as representatives from related agencies. — DayakDaily
