KUCHING: A total of 15 individuals have successfully completed and passed the AFC/FAM B Diploma Coaching Certificate course held here recently.
The course was conducted in two phases, with the first phase held from May 4 to 17.
This was followed by the second phase, which ran from July 6 to 26.
The closing ceremony was officiated by Sarawak Football Association (FAS) vice-president councillor Khairulddin Qalam Daud.
Khairulddin congratulated all the coaches on successfully completing the programme.
He viewed the achievement as a positive development for football in Sarawak, particularly in the field of coaching.
“Congratulations to all the coaches involved in making the course a success,” he told Sarawak Tribune.
He hoped the successful organisation of the course would serve as a catalyst for improving coaching quality and elevating football development in Sarawak to a higher level.
“This course is certainly timely, as it serves as a starting point for individuals who want to become coaches and further their careers,” he added.
He stressed that the availability of such courses reflected positively on FAS, enabling the association to prepare coaches to form teams for competitions at various levels.
“We believe some of the coaches who attended this course may achieve success when given the opportunity to lead a team in the future,” he said.
He also hoped the coaches would apply the knowledge they had gained to guide young players at grassroots level.
The coaches will return to their respective areas to begin their journey in coaching, reaching out to young players and nurturing their talents.
“It is not impossible that talented new players guided by these coaches could shine at more prestigious levels one day,” he said.
