MUKAH, 2 Oct: A total of 168 civil servants from 15 government agencies in the Open Division received the Loyal Service Medal in recognition of their dedication and contribution to the public service sector of Sarawak.
The medal was presented by the Prime Minister of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, at an awards ceremony in the Council Chamber, Government Administration Centre of Sarawak Divisions here today.
The Sarawak State Department of Education recorded the highest number of recipients with 44 persons, followed by the Residential Office of the Open Branch (26), the Sarawak Outdoor Water Supply Department (22), the Sarawak State Health Department (14), the Sarawak Public Works Department (12) and the Sarawak Irrigation and Drainage Department (11).
The Sarawak Land and Survey Department also listed 10 recipients, while the Sarawak Agriculture Department and the Sarawak Natural Resources and Environment Board each listed eight recipients.
The Sarawak Department of Marine Fisheries recorded five recipients, while the Sarawak Sharia Justice Department, the Sarawak State State Registration Department and Dalat and Mukah District Council each recorded two recipients.
Meanwhile, the Sarawak Department of Veterinary Services and the Sarawak Corporation for the Advancement of Wood Enterprises each have a recipient.
The awards were in recognition of the commitment of civil servants to carry out their responsibilities and ensure effective delivery of services to the community in Mukah Division.
Among those present were the Speaker of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly, Tan Sri Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar; Minister for Women Development, Children and Community Welfare, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah; Secretary to the Government of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.
