Bomba personnel rescue the victim that was still stuck in the 4WD vehicle.

MIRI (Aug 3): Two women aged 45 and 64 and a nine-year-old boy faced a harrowing moment when their four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle plunged into a ravine after colliding with another 4WD at Bukit Song, Jalan Pan Borneo Miri-Bintulu on Friday.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in a statement said the 69-year-old woman and 75-year-old man in the other 4WD sustained minor injuries.

Bomba said it received a distress call on the incident at 5.49pm and despatched a team from the Lopeng fire station to the scene.

“When they arrived at the scene, they found the accident involved two vehicles and one had fallen into the ravine.

“All victims, except one, had been extricated from the vehicles with the help of members of the public by the time the Bomba team arrived. The personnel then worked on bringing the victim who was still stuck in the 4WD in the ravine up,” it said.

The victims were then transferred to the Miri Hospital via Emergency Medical Response Service ambulance.

Bomba wrapped up its operation at 7.05pm after ensuring all victims were rescued.
