KUCHING (Sept 23): A total of 207 students in the Mas Gading constituency received incentives from the Democratic Action Party (DAP) Mas Gading Parliamentary Service Centre today.
Mas Gading MP Mordi Bimol handed over the incentives to the recipients during the ‘Study Continuous Incentive Award Ceremony 2024’ at SJK Chung Hua Bau near here.
“This event recognises and celebrates the accomplishments of 207 ‘Anak Mas Gading’ who have successfully entered higher education institutions.
“This celebration honours all students regardless of their parents’ income and academic results, highlighting their journey towards higher education,” he said in a statement issued after the ceremony.
Mordi said since its inception in 2019, the programme had seen a growing number of applicants from 30 recipients to 207 recipients this year.
He said while financial incentives were distributed as a form of encouragement, this event was not solely about monetary rewards.
“This award symbolises our recognition of their determination and commitment to furthering their studies. I firmly believe education is the key to the future of our community and as such, I remain committed to ensuring equal opportunities for students, especially those in rural areas,” he said.
He also pledged to continue providing students in his constituency with the same access to educational resources as those in cities, aligning with his mission of reducing educational disparity.
At the ceremony, he stressed the importance of Mas Gading youth in pursuing their goals, adding it was crucial for them to remember the value of giving back to the community by uplifting and supporting those around them, particularly in their villages.
He added he would uphold his role in sustaining the efforts of empowering Mas Gading youth and help them reach their educational aspirations and foster their contributions to the growth of the country.
