KUCHING (July 27): A 24-hour convenience store at MJC Batu Kawa suffered losses of RM50 after being robbed by a male suspect at 3am Saturday morning.

Padawan district police chief Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi said the suspect was clad in black attire and wore a blue helmet and was armed with a sharp object believed to be a machete.

“So far, no arrest has been made,” he said when contacted today.

According to the cashier, who was the only staff member on duty at the time, the suspect entered the store and brandished the machete while demanding money from the cash register.

The cashier, fearing for her safety, complied with the suspect’s demands and handed over the cash which amounted to only RM50.

After securing the money, the suspect reportedly fled the scene in a car.

The cashier immediately called the police and lodged a report on the incident.

The police are still investigating the case, which was also recorded in the store’s CCTV footage.
