BINTULU (July 25): A 24-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a pickup truck on the Bintulu-Tatau coastal road this morning.

Bintulu police chief Supt Nixon Joshua Ali said the fatal crash happened around 7.05am on a straight, dry, two-way road during good weather conditions.

He said the pickup truck was traveling from Tatau towards Jepak when the motorcyclist is believed to have lost control of the vehicle near Kampung Tani Jepak and veered into the pickup’s lane and striking its front right side.

The severe impact threw the motorcyclist onto the road.

“Medical personnel from Bintulu Hospital arrived quickly but pronounced the victim dead at the scene due to severe head injuries,” Nixon said, adding the pickup truck driver did not suffer physical injuries.

Nixon urged the public not to speculate or spread false information on the case, stressing the importance of respecting the privacy of those involved.
