BINTULU (Oct 22): A total of 250 saplings, representing nine native species including Bintangor Batang Putih, Selangan Batu Pinang and Merawan Siput Jantan, were successfully planted at the scenic Similajau Forest Reserve.

These native species symbolise Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad’s (BPHB) collective commitment towards a greener future.

The tree-planting programme was a joint collaboration between BPHB and the Sarawak Forest Department towards environmental conservation.

BPHB in a statement said the recent event saw active participation from 131 dedicated individuals, including 93 representatives from BPHB and 38 from the Forest Department, all contributing to this significant environmental conservation initiative.

This programme is part of the broader Greening Sarawak Campaign, which aims to plant 35 million trees across the state, underscoring BPHB’s commitment to sustainable development.

Present at the ceremony were members of BPHB’s leadership team, including Bintulu Port Sdn Bhd chief operating officer Matshalleh Etli, head of the company’s Secretary Office Hasmadi Zamhari, and Group Maintenance and Reliability general manager Safuan Yak Jamain.
