KUCHING (July 21): At least 3,500 runners from 11 countries across the globe are expected at the Kuching Half Marathon Heritage Run 2024 on July 28.
They are from Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, the Netherlands, Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States, the Philippines and Kenya as well as other Malaysian states.
Organised by the City Jogger’s Club in conjunction with its 10th anniversary, the run is set to kick off at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Complex here.
Kuching South Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng will be the guest-of-honour to perform the flag-off for the event, divided into half marathon, 10km and 5km categories.
The half marathon is expected to start at 4am, followed by the 10km and 5km at 6am and 6.45am, respectively.
Participants will run past 15 heritage sites and landmarks including the Old Museum, Sarawak Cultures Museum, Astana Sarawak, the tallest flagpole in Southeast Asia and Darul Hana Bridge.
The organiser has lined up attractive prizes worth RM42,000 for winners of various categories namely Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Men’s Veteran, Women’s Veteran and Top 20 Finishers.
