KUCHING, Nov 27: A total of 559 police personnel will be deployed during the three-day Global Muslim Business Forum (GMBF) 2023 in Kuching to ensure it will run smoothly, says Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata.

“Sarawak police contingent also has deployed personnel on the ground involving all police elements by focusing on security, control on VVIP as well as the public, including traffic and control and action plan for anything that is beyond expectation,” he told a press conference held at the Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK Sarawak) today.

He also advised members of the public to fully cooperate with the police to ensure that the forum is a success.

Some 1,000 delegates, including prominent global leaders, are expected to convene at GMBF 2023, held from Nov 28-30 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).

The forum is hosted by the Sarawak government and jointly organised by the KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific, the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, and Global One.

Earlier, Mancha also said that security will be tightened following the arrival of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the forum following a death threat made against him on TikTok. — DayakDaily
