BAU, Sept 12: A 61-year-old motorcyclist died after reportedly attempting to avoid a fallen tree before being struck by an oncoming vehicle along Jalan Bau-Bidi Krokong yesterday (Sept 11).

According to a statement, Bau District Police Chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman confirmed that the victim died at the scene from severe injuries following the 5.45am crash near Kampung Bidi.

The driver and vehicle involved are believed to have fled the scene following the crash.

Police found drag marks and vehicle debris at the location, which are being examined as part of efforts to identify the vehicle and driver involved.

Investigations to locate the driver and vehicle are ongoing.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
