KUCHING (Oct 4): Seventy-six athletes and coaches here have departed for Sibu to compete in the National Tang Soo Do Championship.
Their journey to the central town of Sarawak is sponsored by Kapit Bus Express Sdn Bhd via the arrangement of Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (LPKP) chairman Michael Kong.
“In July 2024, during the 5th Tang Soo Do Championship Open at Dewan Kompleks Belia dan Sukan Negeri Sarawak, I made a promise to the athletes that, as chairman of LPKP Sarawak, I would explore ways to engage bus operators willing to give back to the community through corporate social responsibility initiatives.
“This was to ensure our 76 athletes and coaches would have the support needed to travel to Sibu and participate in the National Tang Soo Do Championship,” he said in a statement.
Kong said the act of kindness from Kapit Bus Express demonstrated the power of community and how businesses can contribute positively to the growth and development of the local talents.
“On behalf of LPKP Sarawak, I wish these athletes all the very best in their competition. May they represent Sarawak with pride, strength and determination, and bring home victories that will make our state proud,” he said.
According to him, LPKP Sarawak believes in leveraging its position to create positive changes for the people of Sarawak.
“Whether it is in transportation, development or community engagement, we are committed to supporting initiatives that will have lasting impacts on the well-being of our communities.
“We will continue to work hard to explore opportunities that uplift Sarawakians, and today is just one example of what we aim to achieve through collaboration and commitment,” added Kong.
