SIBU (Sept 2): Eight mission schools in Kapit today received an allocation of RM1.26 million from the Sarawak government through the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor).
Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi handed over the contributions to the recipients.
In a Facebook post, Nanta said the Sarawak government always takes proactive steps to help provide a positive learning environment for students regardless of background or religion.
“Through Unifor, a total of RM20 million has been allocated to 120 mission schools across Sarawak this year. Today, I have handed over this contribution amounting to RM1.26 million to eight mission schools in Kapit,” he said.
Adding on, he pointed out that as announced by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, these funds are intended for the construction of new buildings or upgrading existing ones, as well as purchasing new furniture, information technology or sports equipment.
The Kapit MP hoped the contribution would further encourage the development of students in these schools and subsequently contribute to the progress of Sarawak Maju Makmur 2030.
“Additionally, I also presented a total of RM434,000 in contributions to 39 recipients, comprising representatives from Kapit NGOs, village associations, Village Security and Development Committee, Parent-Teacher Associations, clubs and associations,” he said.
Also present was Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Native Laws and Customs) Datuk Jefferson Jamit Unyat.
