JULY, 21 Sept: A total of 83 smallholder farmers in the district received steel assistance through Phase 4 Palm and Coconut Steel Assistance (BBKSL) Year 2026 to help improve crop yields as well as quality commodity production.

Member of the National Assembly (ADUN) Meluan, Dato Rolland Duat Jubin said that the aid is important to ease the burden on farmers, as well as ensure proper care and maintenance of crops.

According to him, it was transmitted through the Bureau of Agriculture on the island with 30 recipients receiving steel stocks in the handover held today.

"Recipients should make the best use of the assistance provided to ensure that crop productivity can be continuously improved", he said as he attended the symbolic handover of the aid at Julue Agriculture Office, today.

According to Rolland, Julau is among the top quality pepper producing areas in Sarawak and has great potential for further development as an agricultural commodity production area.

In this regard, he urged farmers to pay attention to aspects of crop care, including the regular use of fertilizers as needed.

"I hope that farmers in the area will continue to commit to cultivating crops of high quality to ensure that the yields obtained are able to give better returns", he said.

Agriculture Officer of the Sarikei Division, Jessyca Andrew Mujah and Regional Agricultural Manager of Julau District, Veronica Inyang were in attendance.
