KUCHING (July 23): Three first-timers were among 84 blood donors who contributed to the success of a blood donation campaign held here recently.

Organised by the SMK Kuching High Red Crescent Cadet Unit, the campaign successfully collected 75 pints of blood.

The event coincided with the unit’s 60th anniversary and was also a collaborative effort with the Sarawak General Hospital’s Blood Bank and the Malaysian Red Crescent Kuching Chapter.

“All participants received a pack of milk, beverages, rice, cookies and certificate of appreciation for their selfless contributions whether or not they were successful donors,” said a statement.

Apart from the blood donation campaign, the Cadet Unit will organise other activities including a ‘First Aider in Every Home’ programme, a National Red Cross Society Member Camp and a grand 60th anniversary dinner and exhibition.

They welcomed sponsorships of any kind from the public and corporate organisations to carry out these activities.

“The generous contribution would greatly alleviate the financial constraints and ensure the success of this year-long celebration.”
