SARIKEI, Sept. 22: Construction of a connecting road between Nyelong By-Pass and Kwong Ming Minah for about two kilometers is expected to facilitate the movement of residents and improve the network of connections in the area.
Deputy Minister of Land and Commodities, Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii said the road will be an alternative route to help reduce congestion, in addition to launching movement of residents and road users.
According to him, the facility is also expected to have a positive impact on the development of surrounding areas through increased access and connectivity between settlements.
"This initiative is one of the steps I have taken to improve the convenience and well-being of the population, especially in the DUN area of Repok.
"With this new road, the distance and travel time can be reduced, thus creating a better system of communication", he said while addressing the Dinner Meeting at the Tanglung Festival organized by the Third, Sixth and Seventh Sarawak Clan Association, here yesterday.
In the same development, he said, work to upgrade Nyelong By-Pass Road for about 3.6 kilometers was also carried out, including widening the route to four two-way lanes.
According to him, the project is essential for increasing road capacity, streamlining traffic flow and strengthening consumer safety.
Tiong Sii, who is also the Member of Parliament for Sarikei and ADUN Repok said that implementation of both projects is believed to package transport infrastructure as well as support future growth of Sarikei.
At the same time, he described the tanglung party as a meaningful platform to strengthen the relationships of fellow members of the association, foster family spirit and preserve cultural heritage for future generations.
