KUCHING: Kuching City FC must make home advantage count when they host Kelantan City FC in Saturday night’s (Oct. 10) FA Cup quarter-final second leg, with a place in the semi-finals at stake.
Head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak said his players must seize the opportunity to secure a victory at Stadium Taha Ariffin in Petra Jaya and book their place in the last four of the 2026 FA Cup.
He stressed that winning was the only way for The Cats to advance to the next round.
“We are going into the match with the mission of securing a win and qualifying for the semi-finals. The players are ready to face the challenge posed by the East Coast side,” Aidil told Sarawak Tribune.
However, the Singapore-born coach acknowledged that Kelantan City FC would pose a stern challenge, particularly with their ability to launch quick counter-attacks.
“Kelantan City FC are a good team, and they prefer to launch quick counter-attacks. Therefore, we must be more cautious when dealing with such situations,” he added.
Aidil expects a closely contested encounter, with both teams determined to claim victory and secure their place in the semi-finals.
The first-leg quarter-final at Stadium Sultan Muhammad IV on September 20 ended in a goalless draw, leaving the tie evenly poised ahead of Saturday night’s return fixture.
